Michelle R. O’Brien, the founder and owner of The O’Brien Law Group LLC, has built her career on delivering personalized legal services tailored to her clients’ needs. With over two decades of experience, practicing law is not just her profession but her passion. She is committed to understanding her clients’ goals and leveraging her extensive knowledge to help them achieve success.

Attorney O’Brien earned her undergraduate degree from The Pennsylvania State University in 1999 and during her time at Penns State was an All-American gymnast.  In 2002 she earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Maryland School of Law. Attorney O’Brien is admitted to practice law in Pennsylvania, Maryland, and New York. Her practice focuses on business law, real estate, commercial lending, and energy and oil and gas law.

As one of the few oil and gas landowner only lawyers in the state, Michelle O’Brien’s knowledge and experience is unparalleled. She was honored to be appointed by the Pennsylvania Governor as a member of the state’s Pipeline Infrastructure Task Force, Local Government Workgroup. Additionally, she has shared her knowledge as an adjunct instructor for over a decade at the University of Scranton, teaching undergraduate and MBA courses in Business Law.

While maintaining The O’Brien Law Group, for five years, Michelle served as a solicitor for the Lackawanna County Office of Youth and Family Services, representing the County in foster care and child abuse cases. Her work in this role reflects her dedication to serving her community and advocating for justice.

Michelle has been a featured presenter at more than 20 legal education seminars, addressing topics in oil and gas law, real estate law, business law, and commercial lending. Her dedication and experience have earned her numerous accolades, including being named a Rising Star by Law and Politics and featured in Philadelphia Magazine’s Pennsylvania Super Lawyers – Rising Stars Edition six times.

She has also been recognized as one of the Top 20 under 40 and one of the Top 25 Women in Business by the Northeast Pennsylvania Business Journal. As a graduate of Leadership Lackawanna, and a current member of the Scranton Lackawanna Health and Welfare Authority, Michelle continues to demonstrate her commitment to professional excellence and community engagement.

Michelle lives in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, with her family, which includes four children and two stepchildren. In her free time, she enjoys attending comedy shows and concerts with her husband and cheering on her boys at their sporting events.
